I was trying to get it to a decent size without losing the integrity of the photo. I did a larger one prior and that came out good but somewhat dark.
I wonder how this would turn out using painted acrylic?
I know one legit guy who does photos like that, but he uses acrylic, painting one side black and then reversing the photo and engraving it on the painted side (being sure to protect the front side from flashback on the grid). You might look at his stuff, and he’s always extremely helpful when you have any questions. He’s Travis Sturgill @ TNALaser. Although I’ve bought several of his designs (and actually made them), I haven’t tried the acrylic yet, although that’s certainly on my to-do list.

They do that in the Discourse app on iOS, too. I try to make a mental note to go back and read them on a desktop machine but, rarely succeed due to the different context.
