3D Object Slicing - 3D Engraving Clean Miter Joints

Quite a write up. Thanks for taking the time. While you’re not the first to try this the experimentation to make a gradient that yields a planar miter is great. You had more persistence than I did, that’s for sure.

A couple of notes:

You can go higher— just manually type a value in that field. 3 is only the limit of the dropdown.

The issue here is the mass of the gantry. Engraves with vertical scanning are likely possible — especially at lower speeds — but there would be trade offs with the acceleration margins.

Also this seems like it would improve your D6, because the pieces are rectilinear. Do you think it’d help with pieces that have other non-right angles?

Also also if consistency is what you’re after, I wonder if rotating the pieces by 45 degrees improve things with the D6.
