3D painting: Layered Resin and Acrylic Paint

#1

This isn’t laser related, but it’s very cool nonetheless:

Here’s a larger picture:

I am curious, though, about potentially engraving each layer to create a 3D image. I suppose you could fill the engrave with a different color resin. Hmmm…something to experiment with once I have my Glowforge!

I love this technique…you’ve got to see this guy’s work…it’s unbelievable:

I stumbled across that article a while ago and still don’t quite understand how he does that so realistically. I wish there was a video of his technique - truly amazing !

Oooh, yes!!! :squee: This is something else I want to do, mix resin casting with laser cut elements, for both jewelry and lager art pieces. Thanks for this link, it’s pretty awesome!

This looks like it takes too much patience!

I don’t know if the technique is exactly the same, but there are a few videos on YouTube of people painting fish in resin. Like this one: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dSvWMUZCjRc

What I like about then is that the painted fish actually cast shadows. Which makes sense, logically, but I had a hard time wrapping my head around when I first saw them.

Maybe something like this

And I thought I was patient, that guy is amazingly so.
