Medium Maple Proofgrade 3D engrave using default settings. Did two sizes, can’t decide which I like more.
Those are great! Where did you get the file?
Nice
Beautiful!!!
Very clean.
Wow! Great looking engraved and the design is really cool!
That turned out really good! Love the design.
Those look amazing!
Welcome back to the community. Great design and execution, congratulations @cclements
Beautiful! How do you clean it up so nicely? I haven’t tried 3D engraving yet, but I feel like my Glowforge would have so much smoke that it would be difficult to clean up like that.
I’m not the OP, but if you do a final run over an engraving that’s fast/low power it cleans up quite a bit!
Scrubbing. Like a lot of scrubbing. Plastic bristled dish brush with dish soap and water (I’ve tried other things and they just don’t seem to get the job done. Warps the wood like you wouldn’t believe though and has to be dried under a flat weight for a while to get it back flat. Happy to hear better ways to do this but I haven’t found them.
@rbtdanforth used to be a big proponent of using hand sanitizer gel. That really minimizes warping.
Huh will try that out next time. I’ve tried denatured alcohol and it kind of works, but nowhere good as soap and water.
Shared privately once already but now I guess I kinda have to share with everyone
. Happy 250 everyone.
You didn’t have to share with everybody but thank you very much.
Thank you for the file Haven’t tried it yet, but will very soon.
Is the file for sale?
They posted it above - just add a cut circle to cut it out.
It’s the gel that makes it work - it stays on the workpiece instead of immediately soaking in like plain denatured alcohol. You can scrub with it too which you’re not doing with plain alcohol. With a soaking cleaner you’re scrubbing the material fibers against each other. With a gel the extra body of the gel lets you scrub more of the gel & discoloration layer. Same with soap & water without the liquid portion soaking into the fibers & swelling them up.
