Okay, only a bit of this was made with the Glowforge, but a very important bit!
Recently learned that catios are a thing and spent most of May researching, designing and building one for our 2 cats. Wanted it to back into a window that faces our deck so that the cats can come and go as they please through a pet door.
Finally finished it today with the Glowforge making the all-important cat bling on the roof and the upper door. Pretty much everything else was done with traditional tools such as table saw, circular saw and mitre saw.
The cats seem happy. That makes it all worthwhile! And just for fun, a squirrel ripped past them on the deck to the surprise of everyone!
That is cool! I need one! I don’t know where I’d put it to connect, but i now i want one. I’ve only ever seen something like that in a video, but built for foxes. I think the couple raised them in their home, and they built something similar but huge so the foxes could play outside.
Thank you! Went through a lot in the design process to try and make it both functional and pleasing to look at. Well, at least as pleasing as you can get when you’re basically building a box.
Looked at a lot of the examples on Amazon and elsewhere, and finally decided to add a gabled roof. None of the examples I was seeing had anything other than a flat roof. That decision makes me a lot happier with the final result.
I bet that was one surprised squirrel when he saw the occupants of the new structure.
