A fun test to see what you think is blue

This takes all of 45 seconds and is interesting.

My result:

Your boundary is at hue 175, bluer than 65% of the population.

I am greener than most - and yes, turquoise is blue as far as I am concerned.

Boundary is at hue 182, bluer than 89% of the population. For you, turquoise is green (which is interesting because IRL I find turquoise to be blue, and teal to be green).

When my father had his cataract surgery we learned that everybody’s lenses turn yellow over time, so the older you are the greener your view of blue gets!

I am in the process of painting my house and in some pics it looks green and others it looks blue. It is green so this was a fun little test to try.

Your boundary is at hue 171, greener than 68% of the population. For you, turquoise is blue. That was a fun little test! I’m getting new contacts, which should be in this week. It’ll be fun to see if it changes, as I haven’t had new glasses in about 4 years or more. I’m going to have my husband take this test to see how he does too!

“You’re a true neutral.”

I’m not sure that applies anywhere else in my life.

My husband’s boundary was 173, greener than 57% of the population, with turquoise being blue for him. Strange how just a 2-point difference made an 11% difference between our scores, but both see greener and turquoise as blue.

Kottke (where I found this) had the same thought, where he said: “Now do red/pink, red/orange, and blue/purple!”

BTW if you don’t read Kottke, it’s a true gem of the old web. I read it daily, and have done so for over 20 years.

A good measure of cataracts, as when least obtrusive, it colors your vision with a strong yellow. I had surgery in one eye only and so can see the dramatic difference when I look for it. Othedrwise my brain makes adjustments after the first week or so and I don’t see it unless I am looking for it.

Monitor calibration makes a big difference, as well.

Also local lighting and a whole host of other variables. It’s just a silly fun thing, not super scientific.
