A quick template for aligning and spacing screw holes in a pair of French doors:
The hashes in the middle help ensure it’s centered.
Maybe overkill to get a laser cutter for this sort of thing but since I already have it, why not use it?
It would be overkill if you went to buy it, not so much to have it. Just as it would be overkill to buy a floor mill to drill the holes but not so much if it is just sitting there.
I wasn’t thinking of them when I purchased but template making is at least 2% of all my jobs. Usually in scrap draftboard.
I need to look for simple practical cuts like this. I spend so much time imagining a complex project that I don’t get anything done. Yours is a nice, satisfying project.
You even included the banana, or rather bananas! Perfect use of the Glowforge.
The thing I cut most often is a consumable blank sticker sheet. It’s trivial, you could do it with a knife and a ruler. But we embrace the laser!
