I did some infill acrylic work, a lot of people do it using wax to fill the dents afterwards but I chose to engrave the protective layer away and then paint, effectively using the protective layer as it’s own stencil.

Yup…thats a great way to do it. I do that with wood all the time…you can also just vector cut the masking and remove the parts you want to paint…works better on wood since it holds better than on acrylic where it can get scratched off.
But for inlay…its perfect.
