a life less ordinary (Cameron Diaz and Ewan MacGregor) --the actors do their best with a relatively complicated, and overforced, script.
-
the Island (Scarlett Johansson and Ewan MacGregor) - a modern reboot of the sci-fi classic Logan’s Run, without ever saying it.
-
Star Trek whenever Shatner wasn’t involved.
I love everybody’s answers!! But @kennethclapp, you and I might be havin’ some words about calling George of the Jungle a bad movie I watched that movie as a kid more times than I care to admit…
-
Apparently Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters is also considered bad? Haha well I love it regardless, I mean clearly they weren’t going for a philosophical cinematic masterpiece here. I thought the makeup/costumes and weaponry props were great! Plus, Jeremy Renner.

Hmmmm, there’s probably a better one in my collection but for now the first one to pop into my head is My Fake Fiance, which was surprisingly good for an ABC Family original. I mean, two strangers who end up hating each other deciding to get fake married to get all the gifts and money? Yes please.

Harry Potter all the way, but since that will always and forever hold the top spot, my current runner-up is Marvel.
I’m shocked you think The Usual Suspects is underrated. Everybody knows that movie and still quotes it today. It’s still referenced and/or parodied in other shows as well. I think it’s gotten its acclaim.
Love Sneakers. Definitely underrated. Crazy a-list cast. Great plot. Memorable moments throughout. I swear, if I ever get a voice entry system I’ll use “My name is Warner Brandis. My voice is my passport. Verify me.”
Totally agree. Loved that movie! Call it what you will, but it’s really a one-of-a-kind as far as comic book based movies go. Marvel’s got nothing like it! (Don’t go nuts. That was a in fun, people!)
That was one whacked-out movie! I remember seeing it so clearly. Ardmore movie theater. We all walked out and kinda went “What the…”
“Bad” movie?! How dare you?! Pure genius!
Yuuuuuuup!
Joe Versus The Volcano… What a great choice! I don’t own that! Must acquire!
Ooooo… Good one!
Totally agree on all counts. I also consider Minority Report to be a general remake of Logan’s Run (with a bit of The Fugitive in there). I watched Logan’s Run just last week, as a matter of fact. Hadn’t seen it in years. My wife and I love The Island. We still quote it all the time. Whenever one of us wears something that, well, looks stupid on us, the other says “Mmmm no… Clones don’t wear that.”
This has been fun!
I think that would have been my pick as well, if I had thought of it. There was even a long stretch of time when I thought 3 was a good movie.
Whoa, Buckaroo Banzai is getting a lot of love. I’ve heard the name, but know nothing about it. Sounds like I gotta check it out!
Accept it for what it is and you won’t be disappointed. It’s a sci-fi/comedy/drama with an amazing cast whose performances are exceptional even in the light of some of the silliness.
Basically, it’s good, clean, FUN!
George Lucas has gone on record a few times saying this was one of his favorites. I won’t lie, I enjoyed it, but then I liked the live-action Ninja Turtle movies too.
Not my opinion! That’s just how it seems everybody else looks at it. I can honestly say I’ve seen that movie over a hundred times and I laugh and sit down and start quoting it every time…“George looks good in Armani…Pretty darn good!”
In fact, the way my family says good night to each other to this day is “Sleep Sweet,” which we got from George and Ursela
Haha that’s true- I don’t understand why people would see it as a bad movie! So many great quotable one-liners. Come to think of it, I haven’t seen it in years…I know what I’ll be watching this weekend!
Nobody’s mentioned “Big trouble in Little China” yet… surprising…
Because it’s not a bad movie, not underrated, and not a franchise. It’s just awesome.
An old movie that my son and I still watch is Private Eyes with Don Knotts. Gotta love a classic like that.
“What is that?”
“The black blood of the earth!”
“You mean oil?”
“No I mean the black blood of the earth!”
From memory so it is not accurate But that is how it plays in my head
Jack Burton approved.
“Egg: A six demon bag.
Jack: What’s in it?
Egg: Wind, fire, all that kind of thing!”
and my favorite line:
"you remember what ol’ Jack Burton always says at a time like that: ‘Have ya paid your dues, Jack?’ ‘Yessir, the check is in the mail.’ "
