Mostly we have PLA as well. Are there any concerns about PLA at all, if used around kids, etc.?

I’m not sure, but think it’s pretty safe.

I’ve seen only one comment about someone getting a rash when printing a lot of PLA.

My X-1 Carbon Combo arrives Friday … so, very excited. Really want to do ABS, and breathing is precious. Made a big decision to purchase an enclosure for it, and will vent it out a window.

I want to involve the grandchildren, and that really pushed the enclosure in my mind. $359, $89 for printed hardware, and $85 for shipping. Yes, I could have printed the parts, but would rather vent sooner than later.

After talking to my grandson this morning, I’ll be ordering a 2nd AMS.

Thought I should update this post. I canceled getting the enclosure for the X1-C. Printed an exhaust adapter (attached with magnets), and ran a hose with a blast gate through a window vent kit. I close the door to that room, and also run an air purifier with a hepa and charcoal filter. Now ready for ABS and ASA prints.

That is on my list too. You’re really going to like that printer.

You need to order a hub for the add on AMS units. It is out of stock until the 27th. So, waiting to order the AMS with it.

I do think it will be a lot of fun! Now to find a way to get more hours in my day!

It’s been out of stock for a while, or I just keep missing it. That is the only reason I don’t have the second AMS right now.

Why do you need an enclosure for an enclosed printer? Can’t you just run the exhaust out a window with an attachment or something? (I have been considering this for ABS/ASA)

@hansepe I did ask to be notified by email when it’s back in stock. So, we’ll see if their projected date is valid.

@bill.m.davis Maybe a person doesn’t “need” an enclosure for an enclosed printer. Bambu has stated that their carbon filter blocks the rear fan. So, I plan to remove that and vent to the outdoors via an attachment to the outer enclosure. ABS and ASA are toxic. I want to have no doubts about air quality. There is a lot of discussion out there. Life is short, and I decided I didn’t want to shorten that.

I’ve been looking for someone to tell me they solved the ABS and ASA issues by just running a line with a fan outdoors. Just haven’t found that. :frowning:

The hubs are in stock now! HOWEVER, I just ordered the 2nd AMS and a
4-in-1 PTFE Adapter instead based on comments here:

Are you Rafting, skirting, or brimming?

I was brimming, but the issue was that it needed to be cleaned with hot soapy water.

Once I realized it was a residual oil issue it was easily resolved. No more brims needed.

I guess I have it lucky then, I use a glass build plate, that usually gets cleaned by heating up the plate to 65 and then scrubbing it with rubbing alcohol

The rubbing alcohol usually works for me to. I wasn’t thinking about the oils from my hand. I didn’t hesitate to touch the build plate before, but now I am very careful not to.
