Has anyone tried to engrave on a baseball glove?

One can easily engrave leather. The problem is getting the area you wish to engrave nice and flat and within the focus range.

I haven’t tried, though I do think it will require removing your honeycomb tray and also be sure it’s not synthetic leather.
Most of our gloves are genuine leather, but some of my kids gloves from when they were little were synthetic.
You’ll have to make sure it’s as level as you can make it, if my material has parts with differences in height, it throws an error.

I was asked to personalize a catcher’s mitt. my solution was to thread in a new piece of engraved leather on top of the pocket using the existing leather cordage on the mitt.
