Inspired by the many examples I’ve seen on the forum, I made a bathymetric map of one of my favorite summer hangouts. It is 12 layers of clear-coated mahogany for the depth and a layer of unfinished red-gum for the top. The hardwood is all resawn and milled from stock lumber. Each layer is about 1/8 inch thick and the final size is 10x20 inches.

Isn’t more than half that lake in Idaho?
I grew up just over the mountains to the west of Bear Lake and I think I tramped every mountain on both sides of that lake doing land surveying with my dad.

Love the two different woods for contrast. Beautiful!
I wonder how that would look with a translucent blue resin fill?
