Birthday Present

I milled some rustic walnut, finding enough clear wood to edge glue into a large blank. Keeping the sap wood in the center of the board was meant to represent a ray of light to cascade over the final product. After routing the borders and finish sanding, it was time for the Glowforge! I was impressed with the ease to import a color image and translate that into a 3 dimensional engraving. I would appreciate the feedback or suggestions from this community to continue to improve this type work.

If you haven’t sealed it yet, I’d suggest going at it with a toothbrush or similar to get the extra ash out of the cuts - and vinegar/alcohol/simple green can get some of the “spray” off the surfaces.
I think you’ll like how much more the individual pieces of the mantling stand out after you’ve done that :slight_smile:
