Blending 3D printing and Laser Cutting with this project

I wanted to test out the new Aura and had this thought of a wood inlaid 3D printed fridge magnet. Anyone else done something similar?

Nice.

I’m a total 3d printing noob, but done a couple projects fitting 3D printed pieces into GF cut materials. My experiments so far have worked excellent. I made no allowance for kerf as (I read) 3d printed final measurements are either exact or can be a tiny bit proud of the design measurement. Everything I’ve done has basically snug fit so far, but it’s only been one piece into another.

I look forward to seeing others mix the two machines’ capabilities!

Glad you shared this. I think it was before I got my GF, so I hadn’t seen it, that I recall anyway.

I did something similar by combining 3D Printed border with laser cut inlay. It’s been over 5 years, but I did post the prototype. I liked being able to integrate a magnet into the design. Yours looks great!
