Butternut box with engraved top and tiny hinges

A basic design I was working on for a while, originally designed for 1/8 inch I made it for 1/4 inch Butternut but forgot to adjust the hinges. So I cut the hinges for 1/8 Baltic birch which as plywood was much stronger and tiny they look better and take less room than the bigger would have been.

I also added magnets at the corners for a solid close but not difficult to open. And I added one of the mandalas I have been using as avatars.

Pretty!

I do love those tiny hinges. I need to figure out a need for a box so I can make some :stuck_out_tongue: Right now I’m just too enamored of using living hinges as spines

Living hinges have a more limited lifespan. Even the side hinges have to be pretty large to stand up to abuse but these can be from 5 to 50 with increasing strength and durability. I use the bamboo skewers as strong hinge centers.

Boxes.py makes a nice starter hinge but they can be modified to good effect.
