Finally finished the board. I decided while those full edge waves look awesome they take up a lot of storage room in a box. I just went with the wave edges from the Glowforge free design. I ended up tweaking the design of the numbers to add the pips and the waves for readability. The acrylic water mix worked out really well to stain the poplar. I did the water in oak though and as expected the open poor structure caused blotching. You get it with proper stain in oak and it’s even more noticeable with this acrylic stain. Fun project, but came with challenges which offered some great learning.
