Celtic Key Pattern Pepakura Heart

I was reminded I should post this here, too. Just a quick holiday project.

I used some of the new Celtic art washi tape I designed to make a low-poly-style 3D pepakura heart.

Yep! I had the same realization a little over a year ago, and made my first design. After I got it, I immediately designed four more, but didn’t get around to having it made until recently. I was really surprised there was no Celtic art washi tape out there. Now, there is!

Happy to share resources if you decide to have some made!

I love this!

I was just telling our son about how this is part of our heritage but we didn’t know it before, we need to learn more and embrace it!

Thanks!

Those are all Celtic-style designs. Fewer people are familiar with Celtic key patterns and spirals than are familiar with knotwork. They all show up in the same historic sources (e.g., the Book of Kells), though.

All three general types also show up in other cultures (e.g., Arabesque and Asian) with notable stylistic differences.

So much this - the number of times people have identified “Celtic” knotwork that’s actually Persian is…not small

Sometimes, but there are definitely crossovers!

My heart thumped with delight, watching the video. Your colors are gorgeous! Timing, lighting, music, it makes a video worth watching more than once.

Agreed! And maybe there was a little bit of anticipated stress at the end that it could get crushed… @chris1 style.

I love the tape and never thought about having tape made. I’d also love a tutorial.

I was also thinking of designing some fabric.
