I needed a craft for some young students to put together for Christmas. I reworked an old design and simplified it. I used 3M for the middle layer so there wouldn’t be any need for glue.
I cut a bunch of letters with 3m backing so the kids could spell their names.
I had to make them simple since another teacher was teaching the class. The kids had fun; they turned out cute.
Thanks! They were supposed to be picture frames for small photos. The original plan was that they would take photos in the school and cut them out and put them in, but i guess the school director decided not to print photos and told the parents that they can take them home and put in their own photos.
The ornament i adjusted to be 3.5" tall. I thought they could slide the string or ribbon through the candy cane, which is why i made it like that, but director had the teacher hot glue strings onto the back. Oh well. So much for trying to make it easy and glue-free.
I was looking at those for something quick, and i even thought of just cutting my own in the catalog. But i wanted to change too much, so it was easier to start from scratch.
Since it’s an English school, i wanted to give the kids a fun chance to spell their names (these kids are around 4-6 years old)…after looking at the pictures… one of the kids spelled their name wrong…teacher missed it.
Anyways, the school loved them. They said the kids were so focused on coloring that they weren’t as wild as usual, so it was a relaxing class rather than the usual high energy cat-herding feeling the teachers usually experience.
Maybe next time I’ll leave the year blank abd print numbers so they can reuse any extras.
These are really cute! I appreciate the thought that you put into the design, even if they didn’t quite “get it.” I agree that it’s a shame they didn’t bother with the photos.
