CNC sculpture scaled up from model cut on Glowforge

Used the Glowforge to create a 1/6th model version and scaled up from there. This 10’ x 40’ installation took several months from concept to model to production. Model was made from 1/8" mdf and then the final result was 3/4" Ultralite MDF from a vertical Maslow CNC. I will definitely be using this process again in the future.

Wow, that’s impressive! I love the comparison of the model vs the installation. Where is it mounted/displayed?

While I’m not sure I “get”* the art, I’m very impressed with the workflow. Nothing better for visualizing than a scale model.

  • That is not criticism, just a part of art

That’s amazing! Where is the final product, in your home or a business somewhere? How long did it take you to mount the final product?

It is displayed in the 2nd floor lobby of the BioMed building in La Jolla

It took about a day and a half with an extra set of hands to mount. Each piece secured with 2 50lb drywall anchors was more than sufficient.
