Combination lock safe

My daughter likes to keep her trinkets locked away, so I made her a combination lock safe. It took a few tries to design a functional dial lock, but I came up with a design that is very stable.

The combination is three numbers, so you have to turn clockwise to the first number, counter-clockwise once around to the second number, then clockwise to the third. Then the latch can open.

I used a different kind of joint for the sides which is a lot stronger than the typical finger joint. After all, this is a high security item.

Pretty awesome and I imagine she loves it.
Hopefully, she has no brother that will see this as a challenge.

Ingenius! She’s going to love this and may grow up obsessed with boxes and later on in life secret rooms (my prediction )

Wonderful! Those things always seem like big engineering projects to me so I just give boxes. You have to pretend to lock them.
