I live in an apartment and have to use the compact filter (I love it. It works great). There’s no way I can vent out a window, but $250 is a lot to dish out every couple of months. Is there another brand or place to buy cartridges at a more reasonable price? Any advice is welcomed.
not that i know of, its too bad you cant vent outside. I live in an apt and it hasn’t been a problem yet.

Unfortunately, your only option is to pre-filter to remove the larger particles that clog the filter. There are several threads discussing this.
Removing odor requires such fine filter media, it is going to clog quickly with smoke from engraving and cutting wood.
The alternatives are huge industrial machines costing orders of magnitude more.
