Hello folks,
After six months of on/off work on this model, I can post the finished thing! It’s a house local to me, built in the 1800s and a great example of what’s called Kent Peg tiling (the tiles hung on the walls). The customer that commissioned this build is slowly improving the actual house but I kept my model close to how it actually looks right now.
All my artwork is created in Affinity Designer. materials range from Amazon envelopes to 2mm MDF, wine bottle foil, paper, modellers filler and an awful lot of hand painting.
Oh, and there’s a few 3D printed items, like the chimney pots and caps plus the light beside the front door. The glass for that was heat formed with a mould and plug. I hope you enjoy it, and remember, it’s all just making!
I can’t imagine how difficult it was to paint all of the bricks. If you hadn’t said it was a model I would have believed that it was the actual house. That is definitely a project to be proud of.
It’s quite a challenge to get a good photo of the whole building as there’s a large hedge against the road, just 15 feet from the front. Still, with lots of reference pictures taken, I worked in stages off of those.
