Cooling Issues - System Will Not Work

Irrelevant (or potentially so). If the cooling system is malfunctioning for whatever reason, the coolant in the tube can boil and explode the tube in under 60 seconds if the machine is running a job. BTDT (although not with a GF).

You’re taking 25,000 V and 600W and driving it into a light beam of only 40W - virtually all the rest gets wasted as heat.

If you’ve got a nice temp controlled environment and that temp is under the max operating temperature (75/82 Basic/Pro) then you’ve only eliminated 1 of several variables.

There’s a troubleshooting step that will help us determine if there’s a problem with the sensor.

  1. If your Glowforge is currently on, turn it off (and wait 10 seconds).

  2. Turn your Glowforge back on.

  3. We included an extra piece of Proofgrade Draftboard with your materials shipment for troubleshooting. Place the Proofgrade Draftboard anywhere on the bed and print the Gift of Good Measure using the default settings.

  4. If it pauses for cooling, don’t cancel the print, let it finish, regardless of the time it takes.

  5. When the print finishes, leave the lid closed and wait until the fans stop and the picture updates.

  6. Turn your Glowforge back off (and wait 10 seconds).

  7. Turn your Glowforge back on.

Let us know about what time you did, and we’ll investigate the logs and see what we can find out.
