Cosplay mask help

This is a long shot butttttt

I made a mask for Halloween, I would like to be able to actually wear it, but only after it was done did I realize…no strap holes!

Has anyone ever dealt with this before/ has any good ideas for making some kind of setup that connects it to my head so I can wear it with out issue?

This is what it looks like in its current state but I have to hold it in place

Are you trying to avoid strings? Because a drill and some string/elastic is all it would take…

Cut a couple of pieces with holes for an elastic/strap, and glue them inside the furthest most back sections.

I have found “goop”-like adhesives, especially E6000 or the Gorilla Glue equivalent to be great for general purpose. I even repaired a broken dog collar with two short pieces of leather bonded to either side of the original collar with that type of adhesive, and it holds her just fine (65lb Boxer)…

I’ll be wearing a hood so straps are ok, might try that then

Contact cement. A little on the mask, a little on your face and voila. :joy:

A little less permanent :joy:

I kept wanting to do that as a covid mask. Elastic pony tail ties to the ears would work well. Or just glue them to the bottom of an old pair of glasses and be the Nerd Monster.

Been making some progress!

So I may use the glowforge to make some leather buckle straps, and use a mixed medium for adhesion. Baking soda and liquid super glue with it covering the end of the strap so as not to damage the mask.

How about spirit gum? The stuff used for makeup (false beards, etc). It holds face masks like the half-mask used in Phantom of the Opera quite well.

I’ve made some (in my opinion) amazing progress on this mask!

I’ve gotta let it dry first from the varnish and then I’ll attach some head clasp or some kind of leather strap buckle system.

totally agree, elastic strap from Michael’s or Hobby Lobby and drill a couple holes if you don’t want to drill holes two blobs of that ES300 or whatever it is glue rig up a clip to adjust tension.

Very well done! Love the use of the LED strip to highlight the glow effect!

For anyone wondering, I ended up using a trick I learned on YouTube. I took the clips from a butterfly clip, some baking soda and liquid super glue and glued the clips into place to hold a strap, it was actually quite solid once I was done. I cut a small piece of foam to protect my cheaks from rubbing.

This is one of those “hacks” that looks fake and is shockingly real  Solid as a rock.

Me and a bud have used this trick to repair telephone operator consoles that were busted to heck and back …piece it back together and resell for …good markup. A tech we used to work with had a custom mixture that kind of puttied first before solidifying that was even better but he decided not to share the secret to that one. Don’t blame him. The boss we all worked for back then would have cut him out after getting the knowledge.

Edit: You guys are cruel. Not one person cared about the atrocious autocorrects in that post? For shame, y’all.
