Cutting out logo

You’ll need to do several things with it:

  1. New file. Bring the raster image into Illustrator. (Embed it.)
  2. Make a copy of the raster image and Hide it.
  3. Use the Live Trace feature on the copy to generate your cutline by tracing around the outside edge.
  4. Use Offset Path to offset the outside cutline only (delete all the others), by a few pixels.
  5. Ungroup, delete the original trace line, set a stroke color for the offset cutline.
  6. Unhide the original logo image and make sure the cut line is aligned around it the way you want it to be.
  7. Remember to Embed the image in it when you Save As an SVG.

There are a few tutorials you probably ought to read through if you want to get the most out of your laser - I list them in a (somewhat) logical order here:

But in any case, you should definitely read the first one listed, it’s important things to understand when working with the laser.
