I’m starting to get dark staining near the cut edges of my leather patches after they are treated with resolene. They are not a burn mark and only show once the resolene is applied. Any thoughts on why I’m suddenly having this issue? Thanks!

Lasers cut with heat, still likely to heat beyond the cut. Resolene likely reacts differently on heated leather. Cutting damp leather might lower the depth of the effect, though it would need a hotter cut. I have done this with wood that burns to easily.

I get that look when my finish (not Resolene but Leather Honey) soaks into the cuts, it always dries evenly after a day or so.
Is this just after finishing, or quite a bit later? If it wasn’t happening before, possibly your finish has separated slightly and you’re getting a more liquid section that soaks in better?
