This is my new design based on my hinge I’ve been using. I think this is going to be the last deck box / card box I do for a while. Need to mix it up! Anyways, it fits 100 sleeved cards and was requested by people who play Magic the Gathering Commander. It will fit other cards and can be used for other card games. Internal dimensions are 68mm by 68mm and 95.25mm tall.
I used 2 magnets for each side to help hold the heavy weight of the cards. It works really well and has a nice snap when you close it. You don’t have to use them but I like em.
I struggled with adding graphics so I just added some dragon like scales. I used a dark oil based stain on the edges and then went back to the center with a lighter oil stain.
I designed it in fusion360 with parametric parameters so it could be made in multiple material sizes ranging from 3mm to 5mm. Fusion also allowed me to make it with kerf adjustments and non kerf adjustments.
You can put other stuff in it but it was designed for trading card game nerds. I always struggle making generic boxes vs. specific applications. Happy with how it came out though. Thanks for the kind words as always!
Glad ya like it! The circle hinge works well. I haven’t seen it in a ton of projects but some. The “t-bar” design was my idea though. It works really well keeping everything tight. Love to see how you use the circle hinge! Cheers!
Looks great. though having been working out in my back yard. when I first saw deck box, I’m thinking the big kind you have on a deck. and I was like how the heck was that done on a glowforge.
