Deer Night Light

So I decided to try working with cardstock in my night lights. It’s much less fragile (and considerably less expensive) than veneer. Also, it occurred to me that I could use different colored stock in layers. This is my first attempt at using the technique.

Needs some tweaks, but, overall, I kinda like it.

Excellent! Love the use of paper! The color gives it a bit of zip.

I imagine the colored paper also makes it stand out more when it’s off as well. So it becomes more of a decorative piece than just a night light. Thanks for sharing!

The colored cardstock looks great! For bathroom use, you are probably going to want to seal it with something waterproof.

I love it! Can you share the link you used to purchase the part for the light/plug? I’d like to offer it to my students.

I have purchased night lights that looked similar to the ones that are pictured and thought how lucky that they came with clear blank panels, but they were not acrylic so be careful and make sure it will not damage your laser if you decide to use them.

Thank you. I wondered what settings you used, but I will just be safe and go with acrylic instead.

I throw the blanks away. (I tried to sublimate on them. That was a disaster. They melt too easily.)

The lights I make are cut from laser friendly 1/8 inch clear acrylic. I sandwich the paper or veneer between two pieces.
