designfail = designs that are quite bad, but which people might be amused by seeing anyway!

That looks pretty good to me! I like the way there reminders in bat wings on the collars and shoulders.
I don’t get it. Why is this a design fail?

Well, that’s largely subjective, I guess. I do like the ragged batlike cloak and the mother-of-pearl skull. But I think the wood veneer doesn’t integrate well, and the “wound” on the bottom doesn’t make much sense. (That said, the real materials would probably look better; this is a paper mockup.)

You are smart to do a paper mockup before you invest time and expensive materials in the real cut. I like the cloak, skull and hat. Maybe leather instead of wood veneer and you can easily delete the “wound” at the bottom if you don’t like it.

I think it’s terrifying–which means you did a good job. It’s great in whatever materials you choose. Like @rappee25407 said, leather may work better than veneer.
