Director's Gift

Used the AI magic to create a rope and a chest to use for a director’s gift for our Community Theater play that opened this weekend. Rope, by Patrick Hamilton, set in 1929, about a couple of fellows who commit a murder just for the adventure of it, and then hide the body in a chest and invite friends over to a dinner party served off of the very chest.
It was adapted into a Hitchcock movie set in the 40s and starring Jimmy Stewart in the role I played, Rupert Cadell.
Had a piece of Thick Cherry Ply PG that I picked up at a yard sale and came up with this. I hope it is as well received as our play was.
I wasn’t thrilled with how the chest came out, using Vary Power engraving, but it will do. It engraved much better on the cork coasters I made for the cast members and crew.

Turned out really nice. The lighter engrave gives it a rustic appearance!

Rope is a pretty cool play. Loosely based on the true crimes of Leopold and Loeb way back in the day in Chicago I think. And we found out during the rehearsal process that they are also, loosely, the inspirations for Billy and Stu from Scream. Lots of references to Joan Crawford, and Mary Pickford, and other movie stars of the time. Gramophones and wireless, and police whistles. It has been an education, indeed.

They don’t get it until closing night, this Sunday. But, yeah, I predict tears.

He loved it. He even thought the roughness on the “chest” portion made it look rustic. There were tears.
