DIY streaming video laser bed monitor

Hi folks,

I did a project to have low latency streaming video of my laser bed to improve upon my monitoring, record videos, etc. It has proved to be quite helpful and I’ve created a write up on it with instructions and suggestions for building on it. I thought I would share it here.

It uses a Raspberry Pi 2B and a Pi Camera that I had lying around, and I was able to get pretty low latency 1280x720 @25fps video from it! With the current spike in memory prices, etc, repurposing old hardware is always good!

Of course, you can upgrade the Pi and Camera for an improved setup.

Looking forward to your questions and comments. And yes, this does not replace in-person monitoring, but augments it!

Thanks,

Sridhar

Very cool. Beyond my technical skills though!

I love the idea of putting it on the monitor arm since most of the time straight down means you can’t see what’s going on.
