you know, it’s a little crazy for me to realize how long ago the original doom shareware came out. December 1993. i was playing it in early 94, when it was the initial release that did ethernet as broadband packets instead of filtered packets. i used to play with the IT guys in my office after work and it used to knock all the printers offline. we’d have to walk around and reboot 30 printers on 4 floors after we finished playing before they released an update to fix it.
That’s cool - and WOW did we have tiny maps for games back then. They seemed big enough at the time but in comparison…
