Dust Sucks

I made this prototype dust collector thing that attaches to a shop vac hose. This is V2. It still needs some work, but it’s a fun start. I’m pretty happy with the graphics on top.

In V1 I installed several magnets in the bottom, and on one side, so I could just stick it to any metal woodworking machine, but the magnets weren’t strong enough to overcome the weight and stubbornness of a standard shop vac hose.

I solved this problem by adding the little clamping wing on the side. It works fine, but it’s not super cool and effortlessly useful, the way it would be if I could just set the thing on any surface and have it stay put. The dust collection aspect is not perfect, but seems to work pretty well. Better than nothing, I suppose.

I’m posting this as an Instagram link. If it’s better to just upload the video here, somebody please let me know.

I love seeing GlowForge solutions.

Nice! A shorter opening would give you more suction and free up some vertical space… Maybe next version!
