I see a lot of comments about Elegoo 3D printers but nothing about their engraver cutters. Does anybody have any advice about the Phecda 20W (or even 10W) unit (ELEGOO Phecda Laser Engraver & Cutter 10W/20W – ELEGOO Official). I’m thinking about their 20W Package 2 but $600 is a little pricey when I don’t know anything about it.
Heh a diode laser with more power than the aura at half the price, this may not be the place to call it too expensive ![]()
That said I’ve never used this unit but I do have an elegoo 3d printer and it’s nice. Good build quality and excellent value.
I would expect the phecda to be a decent example of a diode laser.
@evansd2, what do you think of 10W engravers? My first thought was (in the words of Tim the Tool Man: “More Power!”) but I’ve seen some pretty amazing engraves on Facebook by10W units (the Creality Falcon 10W Pro, to be specific). And they’re soooo much cheaper.
20 watt is pretty impressive for a diode laser. Particularly compared to the 6W of the Aura. It would be using Lightburn software which is pretty standard for most lasers, and the ability to laser cylinders is a different market from what any Glowforge can do. Like the Aura, it would have a more limited set of materials to cut and that little filter looks like it would need changing more often than your average baby. One engrave of MDF would jam it solid IMHO.
As is the case with all diode lasers, clear and anything the color of the laser will not absorb the energy to leave a mark so clear glass is transparent to the visual range but not to the infared of the CO2 lasers.
As to the price it is good for what it is but I would check out whart they would charge you for a refurb Plus that may be in the same ball park.
