Engrave setting is lazy!

Hi all!!
I went to create another ornament and the reason I say it that way is because I have made a few of these already with no issue. The engraving is to say the least “weak” See image for examples circle but it is throughout the piece.
What changed:
I added the 3m 467 double-sided tape.
Otherwise, nothing.
Laser is clean and free of any debris.
The only test I did was redo the ornament with 2 passes and some text was better. The image is that ornament the first is extremely light…

Thoughts??
Thank you!!

Are you scoring or engraving the text? How is the wood secured to the honeycomb tray? Which laser do you have? Is the photo of wood with the masking still on or removed?

Masking still on the one in this post the first one was worse once I took the masking off. Not much worse, still missing parts of some of the letters just as this one is.

These are the automatic setting which I do not change for these ornaments:

So, it turns out it seems to be the actual file that is no good. The letters in the file are exactly as the laser print. see below.

I am glad you figured it out. Should you wish to speed production on this item, scoring the text rather than engraving would probably speed things up quite a bit.

Thank you! that sound like a good idea, I havnt been thrilled with this files even when they did engrave. Also, as I was really new to the laser I didn’t realize I could change settings to get the look I want…
