Back when I was playing with laser diodes, I found out which papers bleached. It was not always the ones I thought.

These settings worked a treat for engraving the top cover of my sketchbook. I figured the cover’s top layer had the properties of poster paper and I wasn’t wrong.

Does it engrave white regardless of the paper color?
I suspect the right settings could darken the core layer or depending on the core material produce a different color.

No, I don’t think so. At that low power the laser is just kind of scratching the surface.
