I seemed to have mastered that also. My life is wonderful and I am truly blessed. Sometimes I wonder how it might be different if I were more driven. Maybe better maybe worse. I choose not to think about it too often.
Well, what a lovely and unexpected lesson.

Well… now I have the Frozen movie soundtrack stuck in my head. Do you wanna build a snowman?
Funny, I was re-reading Robert Persig on the plane today.
Perhaps you should consider being less offensive?
The Dark Tower series is probably my favorite series of all time. I haven’t reread the entire series since he finished it, so I might have to do that pretty soon (God knows how many times I’ve reread the first 3 books, though). I’ve never read the Vampire Chronicles, but then I’ve never been a big fan of vampires/zombies/etc. It’s been a LONG time since I’ve read It, but I honestly didn’t like it as much as his other books. Have you tried the Kingskiller Chronicle series by Patrick Rothfuss? He hasn’t finished the series yet, but I’ve really enjoyed it so far. I hate recommending series that are incomplete, but this looks to be one of the classics, IMO.
I started reading A Song of Ice and Fire before George R.R. Martin finished the series. I found A Game of Thrones, devoured it. Went and got the next book. Devoured it. And so on until the 4 published were read. Then the wait for A Dance with Dragons. And now still waiting for the final 2 books.
And people think it’s just an HBO series…
Yeah, I started reading that series after book 2 was released (I think). Still waiting impatiently for the next one.
Yeah, just like series, I will BINGE READ when it is done, I hate being left on the edge of my seat until the next book, that is why after Drawing of the Three I put it down and said I gotta wait.
Anyone like Clive Barker? I tried reading his short stories first after LOVING the movie Hellraiser, maybe the story, but grossing out on the graphics, I know, so weird, lol.
I remember reading a story about knots, and OMFG, it freaked me out SO bad, I never read another thing of his AGAIN. Thank God, I don’t even remember the story or ANYTHING about it, but I just remember, it made me SO uncomfy to read, and have the graphic horror in my minds eye.
I did not think I was being offensive, what I meant about that circle thing is like when the little kids sit in a circle and play Duck Duck Goose or Hot Potato, something like that, whatever else they thought was on them in their own offended mind. Like the kids that pass the the ball to their faves and leave the others out most of the time, that is what I meant. I just couldn’t remember the names of the games until I googled it. BBeyelashes was like I was being cheeky talking to little kids, like an anime.
But looking back on it, I guess it could have been inferred as something else
I was being cheeky, not being a…whatever you want to call it.
Maybe I will make a design for a ladle with my GF so y’all can scoop your minds out of the gutter.
Really.
To be honest, I wish I could learn that lesson. I have no clue how many series I’m waiting on for the next book. I started listening to audiobooks during my commute to work and I seem to go through a lot more books than I did before. Now I’m constantly looking for the next good read and inevitably find book one of a new series. Lately I’ve started listening to podcasts instead, hoping to fill in the gaps until my next book arrives.
I spent an hour this weekend talking to Alex from Gimlet Media this weekend, and now I want a longer commute so I can listen to all the cool shows he was telling me about!
Ok, now you have to spill the beans. Don’t leave us hanging!
Just their usual lineup - Startup, Reply All, Crimetown all sound amazing.
Thanks, I’ll check those out. Always looking for something new.
Reply All has some truly fascinating episodes (you have to listen to “Long Distance”). I’ll have to check out some of their other shows.
I’m finally almost done book 3. Only like 10 chapters left. Long story. I’m not inclined to move directly to book 4. Want to get back to the Ender-verse. I haven’t read the last 2 or 3 in that series. So I’m going to alternate. Although an Ender’s Game book will simply be a short breather in comparison to a GoT book.
I’ve been half way through book 5 of Song of Ice and Fire for the last 2 years. I got up to a chapter with a character I wasn’t fond of, and haven’t made my way back to it.
I’ve been reading the second Mistborn set of books, the Wax and Wayne series. They’re pretty good. I also just finished reading Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality (http://www.hpmor.com/). It’s really good, I liked it quite a bit.

Puppy!
I finally changed my profile picture from the default to my dog when he was a puppy. If I ever get a Glowforge, he’s getting engraved on some wood.
Awwww! He’s a cutie with that curly hair on his nose!
