So I finally was brave enough to try and etch my iPhone, mostly because it is my old phone and not some act of great bravery 
I follow the settings from another post, using the settings for thick green glass acrylic. I’m pretty happy with the results which I think were helped by the phone being black so the etching stood out better.
That came out nice – you might need to start using it again!
