I have had a problem with the etching soot seeping up and staining the top of the wood a short time, after I spray a sealer…I have been using minwax water based clear coat on coasters thinking it would make them washable…but it seems to draw up the soot and pretty much wrecks the design. I was wandering what I can do to stop this

Gotta do some cleanup on the material post-lasing. Damp cloth… old toothbrush… That should probably clean up enough of the soot to stop it.
