Father's Day Gift

So, this is a Father’s day gift that i made for my husband…i should probably send one to my dad too.

It took a couple of tweaks to get my file to work how i wanted. Tried it in paper, then faux leather, and then the actual leather… then again for the final wallet.

Even though everything seemed perfect through the faux leather, once i fit the money clip in to the actual final leather wallet, i needed to make adjustments in order to make it open and close with ease… which is why i now have the final… and an extra i have to fix.

It’s a lovely wallet! I especially like the contrasting colour corners
Is the metal in the center a money clip?

FYI for prototyping leather, felt does a great job. It’s about the same thickness as ~3-4oz leather so it’s superior to paper, doesn’t require hemming so it’s superior to fabric, and is crazy cheap in big rolls (especially in resale shops after December) so it’s more cost effective that using leather/faux leather

I’ll have to remember for next time. I used paper only to test that my sewing holes were lined up. The laserable leatherette was something i had on hand and i decided i could get an extra wallet out of it. It’s much softer though, so it reacted differently to the money clip than the stiff leather.

The metal in the middle is a money clip. It’s holding the entire wallet together.
