Feature Request: Set Default (custom) setting

I use a specific engrave setting for most of my items. when I have like 15 items, would love if I could just set them to do a default engrave setting instead of having to manually click each one. I know it defaults if you select material type. But I cant change those settings so that doesn’t help

Do you have saved settings for your material, but have 15 operations within a project?

It might be the case that optimizing your project file would make this much easier… If all the engrave objects have the same color/fill in the source file (svg / pdf), they will appear as a single operation in the GUI and can all be set to the same custom setting with one selection.

Using an SVG isnt an option Ive tried it in the past. For what I am needing doing, I’ve been doing these place cards for 2 years and the fastest way to do them from start to finish (file creation, etc), is making them PNG files, and then pulling them into GF. I get orders of 100 but can only do about 15 in the GF, but still would love if we can set a default, doesn’t even have to relate to my project, Im sure someone else would appreciate the less clicks.

I had this same issue when I asked about being able to select multiple files at once, people suggested just using 1 file but it doesn’t work for what I need to do. I am engraving separate pieces and they are random so a jig doesn’t work either. see below

Have you tried a jig to hold the rounds so that the engraved names are automagically centered?

This took me 5 minutes in Illustrator, but it’s just as easy in AD or Inkscape. Heck, you could make the name layer in Word or Powerpoint and bring them in as a single engrave layer…

Note that each of the names & bananas are individual objects in AI/SD/Inkscape, but come into the UI as a layer. Each object is still editable in the UI, too.

You might want to give vector SVG/PDF/AI a go. If you make the names vector and all EXACTLY the same color they would just be one GF operation on the left side bar but you’d still be able to move individual names around. It would save a ton of time. As you’ve found, every individual raster/bitmap file always comes in as it’s own individual operation.

When I have random sized items to engrave … I make a cardboard jig for the largest of the units. Then eyeball the center of the hole with all the items to be engraved. Very quick.
