New Glowforge, still have the box. NEVER been used, did make sure it turned on when I got it, but I just havent had time to play around with it, which is why it is unused.
(for local pickup dublin, ohio) $5,500 willing to negotiate
When was this purchased?
Hello , what excatly are you asking or saying? That is the glowforge I bought new from glowforge and paid in all. I’ve not used it since of other things that have been happing in my, life trust me i want to put it to use but right now it’s just sitting and not being used.
Please explain and questions you have
Thanks,
Vince
The laser tube degrades over time whether or not a machine is used. I simply asked when the Glowforge was purchased because that is information that potential buyers would want. The date of purchase also influences the warranty.
Thank you. I understand the laser tube can degrade over time but would still would think it would be okay since the laser tube has never been fired up??

Used / fired… or not…this is the case, unfortunately. Hopefully it will still be good.
It is almost certainly fine. Tube degradation occurs due to outgassing through the pores in the glass envelope. Cheap tubes/glass are more prone than good tubes/glass. There are a lot of 5+ yr old GF tubes that are fine. And a lot of cheap laser tubes that aren’t after only 18 months.
Interesting. So what would be the best way to determine this or test it. Because like I mentioned it’s been unused and as you mentioned your statement… if I fire it up then I can’t really say it’s been unused, but if I need to what would be the best test for this?
And yes mine is a GF bought from them and shipped to me. No other hands of possession of the unit
Thank you.
Im just trying to figure out the best way to post it and sell it. FB isnt the best place since alot of ppl dont know much about them. So i figured GF boards would be best to post on… any idea?
There is no way to test it, but I wouldn’t worry about the tube having degraded. @jamesdhatch is extremely knowledgeable and I would bet on his advice anytime.
There is actually a FB page that would be a great place to post it…but, unless you already belong, you’d have to request admission. It’s called Glowforge Users Group. Several people who are also in the forum belong to it…and there’s a large knowledge base there, as well.
You’ll just need to include as much information about your machine as possible to get the best outcome.
Wishing you good luck.
