Game box cover, and help finishing

We’re always our own worst critics.

That wood combo is really nice! I’m not a gamer so the critter is not obvious to me.

Did you try rubbing Gorilla tape into the engrave and pulling it off? Seems if you can pick it out with tweezers, G-tape should be able to pick it out.

You might start with a less aggressive tack tape like blue painters tape, then regular masking and then the Gorilla. Not sure if you might pull other fibers out with the black stuff.

Wooh that is phenomenal!

Leave it alone it is beautiful!

Beautifully done, and also so many great ideas to try to get the engrave clean again! I’d say try a stiff toothbrush, or just leave it and no one will ever notice except you (like many others pointed out ).

“If you can’t see it from the back of a galloping horse,” doesn’t just apply to knitting…

Here it is finished, about to be shipped off. We’ve decided to celebrate the fundamental imperfectness of all things.

And a little bonus for CNC machining aficionados.

“Imperfect” is the last word I’d use to describe this, Chris.

Really, a work of art.

Beautiful piece! I use beeswax on marks like that on our engravings when they get residue like that. “Touch of Beeswax” is the name of the product. Then I use a small brush to get in there & brush out the markings. It might be different with this particular wood finish, but worth a shot anyway. Good luck!

That came out beautifully!

What imperfectness? It’s beautifully perfect. To me it looks like the palm trees are a window into the night sky showing the Milky Way. Serendipitous.

Wood is a natural product and by definition intrinsically variable, embrace the beauty in diversity instead of pursueing bland boring homogenity.
