GF lifespan post tube replacement? Repair or replace?

Hi all,

My pro is finally aging out and I’m exploring repair options. The estimate was approximately $1,300, assuming a tube replacement and possibly more work. I’m weighing whether to invest more $$ into this unit or just bite the bullet on a new laser.

Have any of you had these kinds of repairs done? If so, did it resolve your problems and how long has your GF lasted post tube replacement? I understand there are many variables at play and results will vary. Just hoping to get a general sense of if/how this has worked out for others.

Thanks for any insight or experience you can offer.

Things have changed so many times I’d talk to customer service. When my original unit failed they replaced it with what appeared to be a new unit for the cost of the repair but I don’t know if that is how it is being done now.

With the cost of new units I’d think they can make you some type of deal you’d like.

I sought to upgrade my machine and while I was offered a good discount for having been one of the original owners they would not take my working machine as a trade-in.

I’m in the same boat. I’ve had mine since 2018 and am noticing that it won’t really cut through anymore. I can still engrave but am concerned that I now own a brick. I live in Canada and shipping it back isn’t really an option. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

If all the windows and reflective surfaces are clean and unscratched you should be good but there is always to go slower or a second path. If you are already at full power and 100 speed and can’t cut all the way through 1/8" wood then I would be saving up for a Trotec or other Canadian based company, or drive it across and let someone on the other side of the border do the shipping.
