Hello, another sad, but hopeful post. My 2nd GF basic- (refurbished) machine is down yet again. First it was the red wire… had a hole, which I repaired! Tube was lighting up and engraving- YAY… but now, my printer head will NOT move. It stays on focus when starting up. I hear the fans… not ticking. Focuses with no other information or movement. Ive checked cables, lenses, moving printer head under camera, feels like everything. I even brought my machine inside to keep it warm it being cold was an issue. PLZ help. Thank you.
The ticking is usually the head moving up and down within the head. Sometimes debris can get up in there and make things sticky.
With your machine off, pull the head, remove the lens, and with a Zeiss wipe (or equivalent) put a small finger or large qtip inside the tube the head lives in and roll that around a bit. See if there’s any sticky stuff in there.
Also check the edges of the lens itself just in case.
Fingers crossed it’s something easy!
Thank you for your time! I have not tried cleaning inside the head, I did try that, but same issue. Ive done everything else you mentioned, and still no luck. I just cant think of what it might be! white cable replacement maybe?
Someone else recently posted on this issue. When i hear the fans but don’t hear the ticking, I’m usually having an issue with my wifi or something random. With the machine off, you can move the head under the camera and make sure the logo on the back of the head is clean and readable by the camera, then turn the machine back on. Sometimes that helps find it right away.
If it does nothing, check your wifi, make sure your computer didn’t jump to 5G or another network, or dropped signal (you can try you phone hotspot to see that one). There are some parts of my house where wifi is not good at all.
Worst case scenario i experienced was that it was a black lid cable, but it took 2 years for mine to go bad, and it was a much older machine. Support told me was the one who confirmed it was the cable and not my wifi connection at that point… but that was like 4 years ago. So now when i have that issue, it’s usually what i mentioned above.
