If you’re using Gridfinity storage boxes and trays, these laser cut frames will save you the time of 3D printing them. The zip file includes grid sizes from 1x2 all the way up to 6x11.

Interesting.
Gridfinity reminds me of a custom version of my favorite preconfigured storage solution:
This is me, absolutely thinking of ways to use this in D&D
I have not been able to do much with gridify due to Zak designing the walls so thin and I like to use a fat extruder for things like this but I love the concept.
I think he prints with a slice setting to make the walls a single layer and thin. I don’t run across this at all when I’ve printed my trays. I use the standard cura setting of .250mm layer height, or my resin printer. All of my bins seem pretty solid.
Yeah, I’m not blaming, good design, Cura just won’t do right with my fat extruder.
Would be a good exercise for me to redo them with thicker walls.
Nice idea
How cool is that!?!
Thanks!
Had to necro post to say thanx as I have decided to make Gridfinity my go-to standard making your little zip file very helpful.
I’m not going to rip good solutions down but as I build more and replace things that just aren’t working for me they will be to this standard.
Thanks again! I just used these today (yet again) to help organize a kitchen drawer this time.
That’s awesome. I’m still heavily invested in gridfinity. I just did this drawer a couple weeks ago to organize greeting cards in a drawer that wasn’t being used near my front entry.
I think I have printed more gridfinity than anything else and have cut countless frames.
thanx to Zack for gridfinity and thanx to you for the grids.
I am the same. It started with my tool chest and moved on from there. I’ve been organizing the kitchen drawers lately at my wife’s insistence. I’m using it for a bunch of hobby stuff too.
Add: I’m pretty sure that is why we buy 3D printers @markevans36301
I went looking for Mark’s post about new toys but couldn’t find it In my case I often find a use for new toys only after I start playing with it.
That is truly always the case. I didn’t buy mine with Gridfinity in mind, but as much as I’ve printed you’d think I had.
Between my laser, a pair of 3D printers (for now), and all of my wood working equipment, I feel like I can make almost anything for the house.
I’m very studiously avoiding a Wazer, a mill, plasma cutter, etc. because as much as I want those I really don’t have a lot of use for them. I’m sticking to wood instead of metals (and I know a mill would be awesome for woodworking).
Part of me wants one of each but I’ve just had to accept that at some point I’ll have to farm something out.
I haven’t done much with those since moving. Been doing more woodworking (CNC). My laser welder came in and I’ve been putzing with that. I’m waiting on the Snapmaker so I’ll add that to the 3D printers and see if I use it this time I’ve had multiple different printers since way back with the MakerBot but using them never sticks - I’m too impatient to wait for the prints. I’m upgrading the CNC router so I can go faster (& bigger). Maybe I’ll find more patience as I settle into retirement.
My solution to slow 3D prints was to buy another 3D printer! Now I want another one, too. I just keep reminding myself that a lot of the parts I’m making I wouldn’t be able to create otherwise with my toolset.
I do want a CNC for woodworking but there are too many other toys, erm, tools, to buy first!
Patience is hard to find: it knows how to hide really well.
When people ask how many printers I have, I rate that on a divorce inducement scale! (Amazingly I am far over the line, and married [but mostly because I print a lot for her too!])
I am very careful to design and print my wife’s projects first-ish. I’m mostly space limited until I redo that room. I don’t have a basement to expand into.
