It’s a tray puzzle, so I thought I’d add some pics about how to glue the (very simple) tray together.
Thin super glue and clothespins! When the frame is clamped together, squeezing a little super glue into the crack on the outside edge wicks it through and leaves no visible residue. Bonus, it is dried in like 2 minutes. (the giant super glue bottle is from my spouse for rc planes).
And the eye dropper thing makes this so much easier (I forgot where I got them, so if anyone knows what they are actually called, please tell me! )
Priming the puzzle white before cutting is the best way to paint a puzzle, but since I wanted pics of wood only too, I used my gelli pad to roll out gesso and stamp it onto the face of the assembled puzzle, being careful not to gum up the scores. Then I rolled out some colorful paints and patted them on using the side of the brush so I wouldn’t get too much paint in the cracks.
I made the puzzle pieces extra big, but the figure pieces like the latke and challah are a bit small. I couldn’t decide if I wanted one color candles or multi color, but more colors are always better, and I think they turned out pretty Now just to submit it to the catalog
@ptodd, @dklgood, @MakerMatthew, & @Thumper369 Thank you! I admit I’m a little nervous about getting any of the figure pieces (dreidl, dove of piece, gelt (coins)) wrong for the holiday, since I don’t know any Jewish people to run it past. But hopefully they all make sense!
That turned out really, really nice! Love the colors. I hope you do submit it to the catalog. I’ll have to keep my eye out for it (although I also don’t know any Jewish people ). You did a great job!
Ah-ha! Pipettes! That is what they are called Thanks @jamesdhatch and @dwardio. It is crazy how just having the correct vocabulary makes such a big difference in being able to find them.
Most of my family isn’t interested in puzzling either! But my youngest sister (26) just got into doing gridcut cardboard puzzles again. I think it is hilarious that she likes those when I make super fancy wooden puzzles!
