Pretty! Is the black inlayed or painted?

It’s wood veneer sandwiched between two pieces of medium clear acrylic.

Not the OP, but @davidgal2 had success with these:

You can find them everywhere from local drug stores, HD or Lowe’s, or Amazon. There are a lot of different ones, some with switches, some with sensors, some just on when plugged in. Luckily acrylic is ~pretty much~ always the same, so if it uses a sheet of acrylic you’re likely able to make it work

Nice! Is it glued together, or does the nightlight hold it together?

A beautiful night light!

The nightlight has three screws in the back that hold everything in place.

What a lovely, intricate design, and you did a beautiful job of putting it together.

With a double layer of acrylic, do they fit in the standard Amazon light boxes? Or did you have to order those special?

The nightlights come with a 1/4 inch piece of plastic in them. It is not laser-able.

I replace that with two 1/8 (medium proofgrade) pieces of acrylic with a thin veneer of wood sandwiched between them.

It all fits together well, as long as you have the bottom of the pieces cut appropriately to be held in alignment with each other by the nightlight.
