Happy (late) Flag Day

Thanks to @shiying for introducing me to the Frabjous by posting those lovely acrylic versions!

share - Patriotic Frabjous

It’s a regular frabjous pattern, but with veneer added to cover the finger joints. (It extends a little past the edge to account for the angle.)

OR . . . Happy early Independence Day  Great job on interpreting frabjous with your spin.

Beautiful work! The curve of the design resembles a flag. Nice detail

That is really great! It would be great out of acrylic so it could be left outside. Hmm…mounted to a post by a bar so it could spin in the wind. :grinning:

Thanks! It’s not very visible in the photo, but the stars are a little curvy too. Probably should have made that more prominent.

That would make a great one!

Or a Christmas ornament with a snowflake design.

That is a beautiful design. I really like the close-up picture that showed more of the dimensions of the star shape. Your projects are really special.

This is so well done. LIke an old-fashioned pinwheel …the kind that reminds me of childhood.

LOVE this! It’s on my list of things to try and create - I do a lot of design work, just haven’t had time to tackle something like this! Great job!

My fingers are so wiggly that I’d never do this kind of work, but I sure like seeing your results. Very nice paint job.

Oh yeah, I didn’t make that connection. That’s probably what @ellencadwell meant by “spin in the wind”. I don’t know if it would spin, though. BTW the geometry isn’t my own design; I got it from the link in shiying’s post. I just added the veneer.

Ah yes, running around the backyard with a pinwheel, hoping to beat the rain.

I was just thinking of having a children’s workshop event in my library. I thought about using plywood because acrylic is too stinky to cut in the library. I just don’t have any experience in painting. Would you say it is easier to sand and paint the plywood directly, or to do the veneer as you did? Veneer looks great, I just don’t know how easy it is to paint for a beginner like me.
