Posting this in the Made on a Glowforge category is a stretch, as the only thing cut on the was the clear acrylic windows. But it turned out great so I’m sharing some of the fun things you can do with a 3D printer in combination with your laser. Printed on a Bambu H2S using ASA filament, the top of the lighthouse has a twist lock for easy removal to fill the feeder. I modeled the lighthouse in Fusion 360, and have also created a bird house and fidget clicker versions of the lighthouse.
Pla filament is the easiest to work with and the most forgiving. ASA filament is heat and UV resistant, so the birdhouse will do better in the hot summer out in the sun and hopefully not fade. ASA is more difficult to print with because you need higher temperatures and a printer that’s enclosed, ideally. I also print a majority of my stuff in pla, but anything that’s going to go outside is usually ASA or ABS.
Fidget clickers are very popular in the 3D printing community, especially on makerworld. But I wanted to design my own and see if I could figure it out on fusion 360.. Basically these designs have a mechanical keyboard switch inside them so that when you press down on them you get a satisfying click. The Harbor Town lighthouse probably isn’t something you think about when designing a fidget clicker, but it’s definitely something unique.
